1440928 2017-10-20 04:41:00 Thanks Guys. Another one under the belt, almost getting too many to count. After a "procedure" at Mercy Hospital in Auckland on Monday, it was good to get to the big day! Cheers all. Richard (739)

Hoping your day is and has been a great day for you.
Richard, best of good health following your "procedure". We seldom get to those big birthdays without having some running repairs.

1440930 2017-10-20 20:13:00 Thanks Marnie, you are right about the repairs and maintenance. In this case it was a large gallstone, so I can say I lost a stone in one day!! Richard (739)

Better out than in. Was the word mirizzi's mentioned, Richard?

1440932 2017-10-22 22:08:00 No it wasn't. My stone was at the distal end of the common bile duct so was quite easily removed once the surgeon got to it. My gall-bladder had been removed in 2014, but the sphincterotomy performed then had not been sufficient and so was extended. I hope you are/were a nurse as you may not know what I am talking about. I am not a nurse, Richard, there are plenty of other medics in the family without me joining them, even though they are helpful when I need their input. Much cheaper, too :) . I know exactly what you are talking about. A long story but through personal experience I learned a great deal about that part of the body and how medical services operate. Even though it isn't perfect I am still very grateful for our health services.
