1440909 2017-10-19 04:02:00 I've used a Triton Router table for a few years and I'm thinking of upgrading to something a bit more substantial. I've seen the Kreg PRS1045 which looks pretty good, and Carbatec also showed me their RT-660 unit which they say they sell a lot of to schools. They are both in the sort of price range I'm looking at.

Any opinions? Particularly from people who can comment from personal experience of either of the units above?

TIA

1440910 2017-10-19 21:39:00 No personal experience Tony, I've just about finished setting up a hobby workshop and have been doing lots of research online over the past few months. The Kreg table seems to be getting high ratings from quite a few sites, and the Kreg brand is well respected. Carbatec have good quality gear. Laggard (17509)

You've probably been visiting all the same sites as I have :)

1440913 2017-10-20 06:24:00 I have made my own from time to time from old kitchen benchtops, never had a bought one, b ut then I have worked in joinery from time to time over the years when I wanted a break from construction sites. gary67 (56)
1440914 2017-10-20 07:30:00 Had a Triton sawbench with router attachment, never got around to using the router bits, table seemed a bit flimsy so traded it for a Tanner. Whenu (9358)

I've thought about making my own - a basic one wouldn't be that hard. All the fine adjustment and other bells and whistles are what make me lean towards a bought one.

A router table would probably be OK, but something like a jointer or a lathe I'd be very nervous about. The Triton purpose built table isn't exactly flimsy, just not quite as well set up as some of the other ones. It did as a starter but I'm now ready for something else. Similarly I had a Triton sawbench - same story, it was OK to begin with, but I really noticed the difference when I bought a proper bench saw, Tony (4941)
1440917 2017-10-20 19:18:00 I have a toolshed branded portable sawbench looks just like the DeWalt ones at a fraction of the price and is fantastic to use. I am leaning more towards their own branded stuff as it has trade rated guarantees and is very nice equipment to use even on building sites gary67 (56)
