1440002 2017-09-30 19:34:00 My Toshia Satellite notebook has for USB slots. Running Win 8.1. How can I determine which, if any, are USB3?

Thanks
Greg (193)
1440003 2017-09-30 19:42:00 If the slot has a blue bar in it, ie. where the USB goes in, that is USB3. If there isn't a blue bar, it is USB2. You could try Google, insert the Toshiba model # and follow through from there. I got and downloaded the Manual address for mine and that was quite informative. Bryan (147)

Thanks - didn't know about the blue bar thing, but yeah I downloaded the manual. Cheers.

1440006 2017-09-30 19:55:00 The blue bar thing is not universal, though, so it pays to check the manual if the device is fairly modern and it has all black inserts. linw (53)

1440008 2017-09-30 20:01:00 That was interesting I looked inside my Toshiba USB sockets & they ALL had blue bars. Therefore all USB3.Thanks for that snippet of info. PJ

PJ, given that some others don't have the blue bar thing, possibly its just with Toshiba machines.

1440010 2017-10-01 00:43:00 The blue bar is pretty well standard. Bryan (147)
1440011 2017-10-01 03:51:00 Most will use the blue plastic insert to signify usb3 but if not they will have an SS USB symbol next to then.

Also a USB port with a yellow insert usually means that port will still charge a phone etc when the computer or laptop is turned off.
