A lot of people dont realise we were initially governed from Australia, NSW to be pedantic, and we only got our own flag in 1902. And then there is of course ANZAC Day, which they treat even more reverently than us. I actually like the Aussies, and find them good people, but if you want to engage in a Sledging Match they are more than happy to accommodate you. :) |

I though just replace the Blue background with Black. The Southern Cross would really stand out, the Union Jack would still be there and when shown with lots of other countries flags would really stand out. I thought the suggestion during he referendum that any design with black could be confused with ISIS was a major stretch of credibility. |

Claim the good stuff and blame the bad stuff. Oops, sounds a bit like it is now. It's to our shame that we don't treat ANZAC Day as reverently as they do. A major problem is that our politicians don't want to lose their status (even if it hasn't been earned) or pay packets.:devil |

| 1441581 | 2017-11-14 04:39:00 | This issue is dead and buried for the next 50 years. Exactly, when weve got nothing better to do, well kill time and money by addressing the proposal of a new flag. |

| 1441582 | 2017-11-14 07:15:00 | Well all the stories of kids in poverty and homelessness have disapeared from the news media so our new government has obviously solved those problems. Perhaps we could waste time on a new flag in another week or so when our current leaders have sorted out the road toll, suicides and mental health for us as well. | CliveM (6007) | ||
