1440838 2017-10-21 05:34:00 Did SWMBO's while she took me out to lunch for my birthday. Away 3hrs and it was all done by the time we got back. Works well! (Solitaire still works :) )

Happy birthday Kenj and many more of them.

What a present from Microsoft though, an update in under 3hrs and something still working after it. :clap

You are spoilt.

Maybe next year you’ll get an update in under 2hrs, but it might pay to order it now. ;)

1440840 2017-10-23 23:13:00 Just updated this PC, everything went through pretty fast, ~30 min.

Restarted only to find that I lost my Audio, Video driver not installed. I manually downloaded the latest Nvidia driver and installed it but failed. Tried the earlier version of Nvidia driver, failed, too. Run Windows Update again, checked for updates - I have the latest updates!

No other options but to roll back to my previous version, 1703 (OS Build 15063.764) :badpc::badpc:

Computer specs: Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
CPU : i5-460K @ 3.50GHz
Graphic: Asus Nvidia 460.

My other PC which is a much older model updated without issues.

1440841 2017-10-24 01:41:00 Only problem I've had over 20+ computers is one set of my Bluetooth Headphones seems to disconnect when I turn them off. No biggie to fix. wainuitech (129)
1440842 2017-10-24 02:18:00 I am still on Win 10 Pro 64Bit V 1607.Build 14393.1770
On MS Insider it suggests that for Version 1607 one should create a media backup before installing Creators Update.

I have had some conflicting views.
Do I need to download ISO file for Creators Update V1703 and install it before subsequently doing same for Fall Creator Update V1709.?.

A MS Techie said I can go directly to V1709 from 1607.

When I looked for links to get an ISO for V1709 they seemed to just go Creators update.

Can someone please advise best link to create an ISO file and if so can I go directly to V1709?

Thanks
Neil

1440843 2017-10-24 02:29:00 Get the mediacreation tool (www.microsoft.com). Run it, select x86 or x64 it'll download the 1709 ISO

Get the ISO and use rufus to extract it to a flash drive

1440844 2017-10-24 03:03:00 You can also download the ISO directly w, without MS's tool here .
www.microsoft.com

doesnt the MS tool have an option to create a bootable USB , if required ?

1440845 2017-10-24 03:27:00 The link 1101 posted -- Yes you do have the option to create a ISO if you wanted. Just look at what you are clicking.

You can also download from tb.rg-adguard.net All the different ISO's , Office etc. Its an old working link to techbench ( if you look at the picture below its still coming from MS). You still need legit keys if installing from fresh. If you use that link, select Windows 10 (Final) NOT the insider versions. AND make sure you select Windows 10 NOT the other versions.

It also has a higher speed server than the creator tool:

Edited: that time was wrong, came through quicker than the time it took to write out the single line above the picture and post it. :)

1440846 2017-10-24 23:39:00 It's about my failed Fall Creator's update again. Windows Update is doing it's job again this morning to upgrade it to ver 1709.

Went through the whole process again, and still, failed to get my Nvidiao and audio driver installed.

I took out the video card 460 and connected the Monitors to my onboard graphic and the video display works fine but not the audio.

Maybe this 460 is too old -- but, my other PC with an older card - GTS450 works fine.

Any suggestions to get back my audio working?

Could it be the Nod32 doing it's job? My other PC is without Nod32.
