650171 2008-03-17 08:24:00 Im currently looking at getting a GPS unit currently looking at a TOMTOM ONE XL, Any good? mathius (7855)
650172 2008-03-17 08:36:00 Your question is so vague, it's unlikely you'll get any good advice.
It's like me saying: "I'm currently looking at getting a car currently looking at Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Any good?"
What will you do with the GPS?
Go tramping and use it to find your way if lost?
Use it for finding your way in an unfamiliar city?
Use it to guide a missile?
??

650174 2008-03-17 08:47:00 I tend to let my missiles free - if they come back they are mine - if they don't, well, they never were. Deane F (8204)

To be fair to the topic starter, TomTom only sell car or motorbike navigation GPS in NZ so his question is not vague at all. What else would he do with an in-car navigation system but use it in a car...?

650176 2008-03-17 08:56:00 One of my (simple) pleasures is to take my Garmin Etrex GPS tramping, then when I get home to plot the waypoints on Google Earth. A couple of years ago we went tramping in the Spanish Pyrenees and everytime we stopped I took a reading. Last year, we walked the Heaphy Track and did the same. Looking at the Google Earth plots is as much fun as looking at the photos. TideMan (4279)

If they don't come back they must have found their target ;)

650179 2008-03-17 09:51:00 I thought my question was fairly simple,, Spanish Pyrenees, Rolls Royces, Missiles.. and whats with the cat pics ROFL jesus

650180 2008-03-17 10:44:00 I have a TomTom here in the UK and after owning a navman in NZ the TomTom is miles ahead. It has a great range of features and with TomTom
software on your desktop, updates are really easy and with tomtom mapshare
your maps are always up to date.

Highly recommend.
