649217 2008-03-14 00:52:00 Does a flash drive exist that is about the same size as the one shown in this picture? (www.techwithoutwires.com)

A friend wants to extend the storage of their laptop (has 0.5GB left on it out of 10!!)

649220 2008-03-14 01:19:00 Not as far as I'm aware, but technically it would be possible to build one - it's definitely worth looking. Erayd (23)
649221 2008-03-14 01:19:00 I doubt it, why would it have to be the same size anyway?

It still gets plugged into a USB port.

649222 2008-03-14 01:44:00 The idea is that you can leave it plugged in without worrying about snapping things off. Erayd (23)
649223 2008-03-14 01:53:00 Yea, it's called an SD card and you leave it in the card reader.
Nothing sticking out to break off.

649224 2008-03-14 02:10:00 Sandisk have an SD card with built in USB plug. www.ascent.co.nz

The closer any add on gets to $100 the more another hard drive makes much more sense.

These work great. I have two of them here in cameras. Store anything on them when plugging into USB.

To extend laptop hdd space, consider an external USB HDD. Plenty of them on trademe.
