Just noticed a couple of other little snags. As well as the normal Key at the top there are two skinny little keys on the bottom and Right hand side.

From the photo it looks like you need a Mini XLR connector.

Thanks for that .

I'll toddle off down that path and see what I can find .

Just as well finding one isn't vitally urgent .

649782 2008-03-19 18:07:00 Just a quick update.

No luck so far.

The XLR mini route looked hopeful but I got to where they were supposedly 6.5mm. Now I'm not sure exactly where this measurement should be taken but the one I'm looking for isn't 6.5mm anywhere.

It is 10mm internal and 13.5mm External with a push & twist locking mechanism.

In desperation I've got onto the Furuno agents but they have been no help sofar either.

I would have thought that given the number of Furuno instruments sold throughout the world a plug for a power cord would be readily available.

Not so. :angry

649783 2008-03-20 04:05:00 "Furuno power cord" fo Google provides some possibilities (none in NZ of course). Graham L (2)
649784 2008-03-20 10:28:00 I"m not convinced. Would you be able to post a picture with a ruler beside the connection? ;) wratterus (105)

It does appear to be a 3 pin Din plug according to the above.

649787 2008-03-20 20:55:00 I'll follow up on the other suggestions asap .

In the meantime I have heard back from the Furuno agent and he tells me the plug is only available connected to the cord . Even then it has to be imported and the price is about $100 .

I told him it would be a cold day in hell before I paid $100 for a three pin DIN plug regardless of what was attached to it . :groan:

Himm, I wonder . In the diagrams there does not appear to be 240 degree 3 pin configuration .

To add to the confusion, 2 sockets along is a 10 pin socket for the sounder and it is a 3-4-3 pin configuration that is in straight rows above each other . Din don't appear to have that configuration either? (I have the plug for that one)

If I don't have a break through before Tuesday I'll give Connector Systems a call .
