650295 2008-03-21 03:46:00 Epiglass market a Silicone Wax for polishing fibreglass boats, with an accompanying cutting compound.
It performs well in the marine environment, and consequently is magic on cars - a properly applied treatment will last on a car for at least a year.
Available at good ship chandleries everywhere.

Have you ever tried repainting a boat, car or a piece of fine furniture which has had Silicone based polishes or waxes applied? Anyone on this forum who is a spray painter to trade will be cringing. My mates pride and joy took me about 3 days wet sanding, washing down with the approriate solvent, re-sanding etc. before I could even get the primer to stop getting the Silicone pits to disappear. Similarly, with a very expensive burr Walnut table I was almost down to the bare wood before I could successfully restore it.
Silicone does have it's place but should always be used sparingly. The burr Walnut table in question had a weekly dose of Silicone based polish over a period of many years. A wax only based polish in my opinion is the way to go.
