649730 2008-03-15 20:18:00 My wife and I are Larks, the kids are Owls and guess who using more than their fair share of our 6Gb monthly ISP allowance, like 700Mb a day!

I’ve downloaded our Daily usage info and, to no surprise, when the kids are away on school camp there’s a huge reduction in daily usage.

So, Im after some software that either Switches Off the ADSL or greatly reduces its speed from say 10pm to 6am or so.

Anyone using something similar.

Thanks

John in Mosgiel.

Why didn't I think of that?

I run a cron job and get it to do a "ipconfig /release"

Told the kids it was a service offered by Xtra.

649735 2008-03-16 03:17:00 My kids are not that silly, that they wouldnt notice a Timer connected to the Modem PSupply . Besides we are i the habit of switching off the Switched socket at the wall when finished with the PC at the end of day .

Adding a $10 timer would mean resetting the damn thing every day, not to mention the ticking that would give it away as well .

649737 2008-03-16 03:21:00 A lot of routers have the ability to block all ADSL traffic at set times, still allows internal traffic...

My Linksys WAG54G is capable to this.

As is mine. And since you need a password to access the router's settings they won't be able to change it.
