| 794978 | 2009-07-25 02:15:00 | This is a reply to the now closed thread here: forums.pcworld.co.nz I have 2 of these drives sitting around. It has always perplexed me why either of them won't open when there is no CD in them. I took the covers off of one to observe just what was happening inside. The problem is this thing: www.kgbclan.com When the cover is fully in place, this thing simply won't let go of the CD spindle. When a CD is in the tray it doesn't stick. I tried putting a little grease on it, tried flexing the cover outward to give it some space to move. I tried shimming the top cover with washers and I finally tried just removing the green plastic thing altogether. No go. Nothing works. You're better off just chucking it in the garbage. I could not get it to work right. |
