650395 2008-03-19 07:38:00 While we're on Auckland Uni, anyone else noticed the computers they have at Kate Edgars are overkill? Students only use them for MS Word etc and internet....yet they're given E6400s and 2GB RAM. Even an E2140 would suffice.

And the free internet now is so slooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww.

650396 2008-03-19 08:10:00 They could have used the money spent on those Core 2 Duo Optiplexes for better internet....seriously, by downgrading to E2140 systems with 1GB RAM they could have saved thousands.....it's not like students are going to be using those PCs for playing BioShock or the like.... qazwsxokmijn (102)

There's two of us in my class alone with EeePCs now, and two more are likely to buy them after seeing me use it all the time.. Its like a students dream-machine :D

Im starting a trend! ;)

For those using laptops, I just noticed that they have added instructions for setting up the premium plan on your laptop (until now the IC help desk has said it was impossible and we were stuck with 128k, not really what you want to hear when the $20 is apparently non refundable). I'm glad to see they were proactive about sorting out this problem.
