652593 2008-03-27 03:40:00 40,000 Iraqis have died in the current Iraq conflict while the US steals oil. Are we going to send a message to the US?

Ironically the western media (including NZ) is all over China for there atrocities while they turn a blind eye to atrocities committed by the west.

But I guess we all feel better feeling righteous lol.

Visit the above link and see how the west medias manipulated the recent news about the so-called "Peaceful Protests" in Tibet! Although the site is mainly in Chinese but we should have no problems in understanding it's contents.

We can now really see the UGLY sides of CNN, BBC and some other western medias.

Tibetans are still humans. Most of us are deceived by Tibet's favored peaceful culture and the abundance of monks that we fail to see what they were, are and will always be - humans.

I disagree, Mr. Black.

GAMES may be GAMES, but the OLYMPICS are a POLITICAL BRAGGING CONTEST. ....and there are citizens in the outskirts of the prettied-up arenas and stadiums who aren't getting a square meal but once a week..if that!

Billions upon billions of $$s for games and yet medical, scholastic and social programs all go wanting. People starve to death while crowds cheer for a .00007 second faster new world's record. It's all so perverted and unreasonable.

Countries should only be able to compete when they can show serious socio-economic concern for it's citizens. I guess that would leave the venues all empty though. :clap :banana :punk

I dunnow . . . I am poor and I get 3 squares and a roof . . so I cannot complain .

Even the infamous prison system here gives the "vacationers" three hots and a cot . . . and all the library and tv time they want .

Actually your comment brought back memories of Japan when I was there in 1970 and 1971 .

The streets of Yokuska ran with sewage in the gutters (it was Winter . . not cherry blossom time) and there, upstream was someone taking a fecal dump in the flow, and a little lower down some "person" was scooping the water into a one-piece-of-coke wok to fry a rat or some other indigenous rodent, all the while the Ginza lights and Sasebo bars were lit up big time . The snow fell gray! Yup . . . GRAY!

The smog was so bad you'd have thought you were in Pasadena in an atmospheric inversion in July .

Yup . . Japan, the island of ENLIGHTENMENT!

They had street campers too .

Don't go all misty-eyed for the US . . it's got troubles . . . but it's universal too . . . . if not everywhere .
