| 650365 | 2008-03-18 03:46:00 | Hey all, Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions here . We bring in our own laptops (EeePC in my case) and have Wireless access, or we can setup Ad-Hoc Wifi Networks . Basically Im after suggestions for 'entertainment' (Web-browsing / movies aside) that can be run in a small window or something, potentially turn-based, and ideally free . . . I ask a lot, I know ;) Cheers all Chill . Just how "long" are these breaks? Fifteen minutes? An hour? A day? A week? A month? . . . . all Summer or Winter or whatever you call your seasons in Upsidedown Land? Suggestions: For the 15 minute break: look at girls . For a one hour break: talk to an unfortunately . . . . er . . . . unkempt person and tell them all the good things of getting a secondary education . For a day: tour the engineering spaces in the boiler room or the electrical generating station on the campus . Learn about what makes that laptop run and where the little electrons come from . The little people will love you . For a week: volunteer at a local grade school to tell the little children about life on campus and what they can expect to get out of life with an education . The teacher will love you . Remember you will need high wage earners when you retire . . they pay INTO the Social Security Retirement coffers! For a month: get a meaningless, frivolous job . . . do hamburgers mean anything? Trench work is always evocative: you may NEVER want to get that low again . . . but ya gotta go there at least ONCE in a lifetime! For a seasonal recess (over 2 months): get a leg up on the competition and get a job in the industry or trade in which you will seek your lifestyle employment . Volunteer to audit a few weeks just for the management to see if you are any good at it and if you really like the position . You may learn to see hamburgers in a new light . If you get enuff time, tour Hemet and San Jacinto in Southern California . . . . I have a few Mexican beers and some fishing treks for you all lined up . |
