650982 2008-03-20 04:36:00 That would be a great PC for gaming, for a few months. ;) pcuser42 (130)
650983 2008-03-20 04:50:00 Yep, that would be sweet. Make sure the components you get are the latest..

(1066mhz RAM, that type of thing) and get a big enough PSU to handle a GFX upgrade, you'll be sweet as.

Yeah, I was thinking of going with 800MHz DDR2 ram, just because it's do damn inexpensive for the power you get. Also, is my PSU grunty enough to cope with upgrades?

650985 2008-03-20 06:06:00 When buying a Q6600, always make sure it's the G0 stepping. Runs cooler, more energy efficient and is more overclockable than the B3 version. qazwsxokmijn (102)
650986 2008-03-20 07:30:00 Excellent.

I could quite happily recommend something like that to a customer.

650987 2008-03-20 07:35:00 Thanks for that guys.

Is the PSU I've chosen good enough? Want it to be upgrade-proof also. (Corsair 620HX 620W 10A)

To be upgrade proof I think you'd want a 1000w PSU like an Enermax Galaxy - as the most likely ugrade would be SLi and then you're talking serious amp demands on the 12v rails.

But a Galaxy is between $400-$500 dollars depending on where you shop.

650989 2008-03-20 14:19:00 Good system, but in my opinion Gigabyte P35 boards are better.
The 620W PSU is little bit overkill, with this PSU you can run a SLI system (your board isn't SLI compatible).
A 500W-550W (2x12V lines with á min. 20A) quality PSU from Tagan, Seasonic, Corsair and BeQuiet for example will be enough.

If all ram slots occupied, some boards make problems.
