| 794962 | 2009-07-24 16:37:00 | My daughter's lappie has gone out of control. The hard drive and fan keep going constantly and it winds down the battery within about 30 minutes. I'm unfamiliar with notebook computers so I can't give her any advice. Also, she's in Melbourne so I can't physicaly check it. It's running XP, and the damn thing is an HP. Hope for some help, please. |

| 794965 | 2009-07-25 00:08:00 | Get her to take to a tech for a look-over. Probably overheating (needs dust cleaned out of the fan and heatsink) and if the HDD has constant activity there probably either an issue with a program stuffing up, or not enough RAM. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 794966 | 2009-07-25 00:10:00 | Is she using the laptop on the bed? Most laptops have air vents at the bottom so she could try putting it on a flat surface and see if that makes a difference. | ronyville (10611) | ||

| 794971 | 2009-07-25 07:37:00 | You could get her to check the processes running in task manager. Maybe some program is stuffed and the CPU is stuck at 100% hence the fan being on at all times... | heni72847 (1166) | ||
