We have to save the planet.
What a load of crock.

654005 2008-03-29 20:49:00 If you spend less on power... you can spend more on toys... its obvious ;)

Actually it may be a load of crook to you, but don't come running to me for a life jacket when the icecaps melt ;)

654006 2008-03-29 22:35:00 Which, of course, takes us back to the question of "Global Warming - are we causing it?" and "Can we do something about it?"

Not causing, contributing certainly. Able to stop it? Don't be so arrogant! You are up against nature. People have tried to tame nature before. No-one has yet succeeded. Does anyone really think that switching off for such a small period of time (or even for a long period) will even scratch the surface? Arrogance personified!

If all you switch off your lights at the same time, perhaps you might overload the system? Hopefully they switched off some of the generators?

It all has that "feel good" notion about it but little else.:groan:

You have to start somewhere. It gets people thinking which is a start. You guys probably turned more lights on in protest :waughh:

You just have to have a few fires caused by candles falling over, for it to get bad press. It is far better to require new building to be designed for passive energy collection. Such as passive solar design for collection heat, and LED lights which should be subsidised

Not to mention, decrease the rate of respiration!

Close!

You're right . It does get people thinking - for the small amount of time they turned the lights off, then its back to reality . :illogical

654011 2008-03-30 02:44:00 and dont forget, bath in cold water, you'll get used to it, don't boil the jug, just have cold tea or coffee! Amazing! While we are at it, lets not cook our meat, lets eat it raw! Much better for the dietry fibre anyway! rob_on_guitar (4196)
654012 2008-03-30 02:46:00 no i'm all for action to slow global warming as best we can, but simply turning off the lights and postponing using your PC for an hour in a country that already uses mostly renewable power isn't going to make a difference, nor "raise awareness"

and wouldn't candle burning release CO2?
