795617 2009-07-27 05:56:00 Hi there,

First post.

I recently bought the 2006 THQ Disney-Pixar Cars game for my daughter. It came on DVD. It installed OK on my aging desktop, but since that computer has become unstable, I thought I'd install it on the laptop instead.

However, when I pop it into the laptop's DVD drive, the installation only gets as far as an InstallShield Wizard window that says it's preparing the Java Virtual Machine. When the loading bar gets partway along, the DVD stops spinning and then the window disappears and nothing else happens.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9400. It's probably about as old as the game I'm trying to install. I've just updated Java though. Didn't help.

I wonder if perhaps the problem is that although there is one physical DVD drive in the laptop, Windows sees it as two separate drives? It sees it as a DVD-RW drive (D) and a plain DVD drive (E). When I put the Cars DVD into the computer, it loads it in the DVD-RW drive (D).

Could that be the problem? If so, how would I go about getting it to load in the the DVD drive (E) instead?

Thanks in advance.
