| 653641 | 2008-03-30 15:27:00 | Besides the obvious perils with driving alongside the boxes on wheels, the two accidents I had (near fatal each) were when I allowed other people to make moves into my "safe zone" and make decisions for me where I would drive. Make your own moves and I say drive offensively...making the road yours and pass everyone..even slowly...but be obvious in your intentions and moves. Plot all the angles (good for geometry students), create your own exits and escape paths. It's kinda like navigating a small water craft and meeting another craft about to cross your bow. Make all your moves in that case slightly exaggerated to put the idea clearly into the mind of the other craft what you are doing for yourself or out of respect for him....always assuming the other guy is a complete idiot...or a half-wit. The one result from years of study by the Automobile Club is a semi-obvious thing to remember: old men wearing hats are the most dangerous drivers on the road. Hats are old fashioned and so is their thinking. Example: "I ussta drive my mule along this road on nineteen and forty-two and I ain't gonna start getting outta any body's way now" :annoyed: Old wimmen are just goofy and they will change lanes when- and wherever they want. Expect it! :eek: Truck/lorry drivers just plain ol' hate you and will try to run you into a ditch, under their wheels or into another lane. They resent you and your speed and size and will act appropriate to their mental age..after all the only thing they do is hold a steering wheel and bang gears. Bottom-dump drivers are the very lowest of the food chain. |
