652929 2008-03-26 09:50:00 Well it helps prevent monitor burn in (screensavers don't do their job these days)

And theoretically helps with the longevity of the monitor.

These days I just use xx mins shut off the monitor...
I must be sensitive, with my ADSL router I still cannot sleep... haven't got a wireless card yet for my computer, well .. I preferred it wired :D

652931 2008-03-26 14:12:00 Desktop & laptop usually go off at night (I voted yes), everything else stays on .

Ok - to go off on a slight tangent, of those Servers that are left on all the time, how often do you bounce them? Not counting OS updates that require a reboot . . . . Never, unless I'm doing a kernel upgrade or replacement . There's simply no need .

652935 2008-03-26 22:12:00 Server stays on 24/7 non stop as I host my own private forum, my friends from overseas will start to complain if they can't get on.

652937 2008-03-26 23:25:00 I send mine to sleep usually when I do...but I know that a reboot is necessary for updates and M$ stuff to sometimes take effect, so it's a beneficial thing to shut them down at least every 24 hours or so...

Saving electricity? BAH!...Burn another forest or a ton of coal!!!
