My brother was born in in Auckland and has traced our family tree back to 1650 or so. My natural daughter is now the daughter of my sister and has been for some years. If any would like me to explain further I can do so It is a wise child that knows its own father and some mothers may not be sure either. |

On my Fathers side there was a guy moved from Flanders to England as part of some war party in 15something.............he stayed and married, there were some other more recent relatives from France. The usual hodge-podge that makes up England. |

| 654118 | 2008-03-31 01:01:00 | I'd be surprised if there weren't any european-sourced Kiwis (as opposed to asia- or africa-sourced) that didn't have any Scandi blood. Vikings invaded and settled most of Europe over time. I have Scandi DNA via my mother's side (of Irish descent) as well as from my father's side: Anglo-Saxon. My wife's mother is two generations removed from Norway and the father-in-law is Cornish (Celts)... Surprise, surprise, my daughter has auburn (red) hair!!! |

| 654120 | 2008-03-31 01:28:00 | Largely from Scandinavia . You've probably got some Viking blood in you . From both parents too I'd guess . Er . No . The origin of the Hungarian language is one of the several mysteries that surround the early history of the Magyars . For long it has been believed that Hungarian belongs to the Ugric branch of the Uralic language family based on a relatively large number of words (~300-400) of Finno-Ugric origin in the language . Others try to relate Hungarian to Sumerian, a language that was spoken in the Middle-East some nine thousand years ago . These ideas have been rejected by scientists for several reasons . The Hungarians, or Magyars, come originally from Asia, though precisely where has never been established . They appeared in the area north of the Black Sea around the 8th/9th century at which time they were nomadic tribal horsemen . Thats it . |
