653499 2008-03-28 19:36:00 I am so lucky. I live in a town that builds wakas.

We also build talking poles.

Maybe I should get a few friends to help me get a waka to visit SurferJoe46 and his whanau. Or maybe not as the case may be.

Now help me on this.

Do I drop the waka in the Waikato river hopefully north of Huka Falls and get the waka out on the west or should I truck it to Auckland and row it from there?
Sorry, but salt or fresh water is not the issue here. There is the matter of grants and conference fees to be expensively thrashed out first.

653500 2008-03-28 19:46:00 It's the Maori word for a canoe.

Yep. But I think it would take more than one person to paddle this one.

I did not take the picture which was found here:-
en.wikipedia.org

Used PSP9 to brighten the image.

653501 2008-03-28 23:27:00 You have indeed improved the picture, Sweep.

But the angle it's taken from doesn't show its size and true grandeur. It's a mighty construction.

He has an album out with some of his stuff . . . . but the video was NOT his! That was added by a very sincere "Pitts-Addict" . . . and very well, I might say too!

Since I changed from CW to more "Oldies Rock" a bit ago, I lost out on the fact that he no longer is broadcasting on the local CW station here near me . I had heard that he was a resident of Banning or Beaumont, CA . , both of which are just up the canyon from me here and are actually neighboring towns to San Jacinto . OK . . . there are large areas of unincorporated and unused land betwixt the two, but we are neighbors by any stretch of a Mercator Projection .

However . . . . I will try to find the (1) album/recording at the local 99-cent discount bin at my friendly Sav-On Drug or thrift shop . . . but look all over that YouTube site as there were other cuts from his (1) album/recording .

He'd produce a new article every day for X-number of years . . . and I imagine the mental well finally went dry . Too bad, he could skew with a flair! That's about 5 days-a-week times 52, times (at least) 6 years of humor that I heard on a first-time broadcast basis .

I never heard a repeats of any topic he worked over, and I imagine finding new material was getting to be a problem after so long . . . . but maybe he lost his subscription to his newspaper or the internet .

In almost the same vein, but a different arm/leg, I offer . . . . . (if you like eclectic), try to find any DVDs of "Northern Exposure" in NZ . I heartily suggest you watch a few in order to get the quirky characters into mind and you'll have a good supply of Winter viewing for when the sun goes into (our) the Northern Hemisphere, leaving youse guys with 6-months of darkness . :crying

OFFBEAT COMMENT HERE: I changed from CW (Country/Western) format listening to "Oldies" because I finally broke the CW-Record-Industry-Code .

 Caution: Plot-Spoiler!!! :annoyed:

NOTE: THERE ARE ONLY THREE OR FOUR CW RECORDS IN THE WORLD .

People don't realize that even though they THINK they are hearing a different song by a different CW artist (oxymoron NOT my origin), they are actually hearing the same record being played . . . but at different speeds or backwards or on the edge or they just put the needle on the label and let it play for a while . Sometimes, the DJ will leave the record off the turntable all together and just play the felt on the wheel .

The secret's out!

653504 2008-03-30 04:34:00 We had Northern Exposure screening here several years ago, Joe.
It screened on our TV3 at 1p.m. on Sundays, so was hardly prime time - and probably lowly-rated accordingly.

It was my favourite series at the time.
I absolutely loved it!
