I have an old AGP system that has 4 gig of ddr400 ram,170 Opty,7800GS 512mb that would be good for a new card,I also have another PC that has 4 gig ddr400,4000A64,on a MATX mobo that could use it as well. I will buy 2 of them I think and keep the 7800GS as a back up graphic card.:D |

| 795368 | 2009-07-29 06:11:00 | Is that RRP, as I believe Dove are wholesale? Ahh, yes you are correct, Dove is wholesale. However, PBTech will be retailing them ( they are the other official Gigabyte distributor in NZ, according to the gigabyte website.) 3 weeks lead time. $169 + gst. Also getting a new Viewsonic VX2433WM to match the new video card. NICE ! And maybe a fresh XP install to clean out the bloat and cobwebs. That will put off any mobo / cpu upgrades for at least a year or two now. Just couldn't justify a full new upgrade, and would have been a case of upgrading just for upgrading's sake. Don't run the absolute latest games, a bit of video editing (faster would have been nice ... but ....). Kids play their Sims3/Total War/etc, so I guess they will benefit the new kit more than I will :illogical So when I am ready to upgrade, DDR3, Quad / 8 core and USB 3.0 will no longer be bleeding edge, and I wont be paying the "early adopters" premium penalty !! :o |

| 795370 | 2009-07-29 16:59:00 | Glad to see this thread revived... I'm in the market for an AGP card for the exact reasons given in that first review... My desktop unit is adequate for my means (movies and solo games and backups), and sure don't want to upgrade it any further considering its now only my secondary machine. Also, the VX2433WM is a damn nice monitor. I bought one for my brother as a gift, and got its smaller 22" version for myself. |
