2008-04-05 18:08:00 | Looking to assuage its inertial workforce a bit more . . . . Facebook was shopping for its own upper-crust chef recently . Sheryl Sandberg . . . (who jumped ship from Google becoming Facebook's COO just last month) . . . . she said she knew " . . . just the guy . . . " but he was at her old rock pile . Le commerce a été accompli . . . . as Carolyn Jung . . . (another "until very recently", Merc's food editor) . . . reports now that Chef Josef Desimone has been spirited off to become the new . . er . . . Facecook . So . . . . . . happy . . . it seems, very happy . . . . . Sandberg and Desimone blended well at the Googleplex, where an ex-employee said: "Josef was Sheryl's favorite chef at Google . Every time she moved buildings, so did he . " (Must've been his French-fried Snickers bars!) Apparently, though, not everyone is p-o'd at the Google-to-Facebook hop . A health-conscious Googler Naturalist and Tree-hugger says: "Everyone hated his cafes . He had the worst heavy, everything-fried menus . . . . . yuck" :yuck: Let's see if his souffles flop first . Gotta ask the obvious: will Google retaliate? Did he get to bring his deep fat French fryer too? Would Sergey try to retaliate by hiring away Mark Zuckerberg's personal nose hair trimmer? .

2008-04-06 15:56:00 | Ditto lol OK . . . Sheryl Sandberg (ex-Google-ite) went to Facebook, got an office with a view and took a highly prized (or not so highly prized, considering the varied opinions and sources of praise) chef from Google with her . She obviously had some drawing power over him as he had changed buildings with her every time she made an internal Google office change too . (Read between the lines) . The fact that Facebook is the new up-n-coming gorilla with which to be reckoned in the very near future . . . . this shows that Google . . . up to this point . . . . has accepted the insult, taken up the gauntlet and is about to give them a return smack . Maybe . So far Google has looked the other way . . . thinking that Facebook . . . or anyone . . . could never vie for top dog status in the ether-world . What's going on here is just the tip of the iceberg . Google hasn't blinked yet; I don't think they will . This is going to become a battle of the titans soon . Stay tuned .

2008-04-06 21:40:00 | Ah. Thanks for the translation Joe! :) IMO it will be some time before Facebook can contend with Google. At this point in time they are miles apart and Facebook are struggling to come up with a revenue model without upsetting their key asset (i.e. their community). What's with the reference to deep fired Mars bars? Have these people got a weight problem? Cheers Andrew

2008-04-06 23:13:00 | It's funny how impermanant the CO's seem to be in all of those companies, it's like Web2.0-Exec musical chairs. Taking your favourite grease monkey with you though... that's a bit far. Thanks for the update though, it's always fun watching the circus that is silicon valley. | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |

What's with the reference to deep fired Mars bars? Have these people got a weight problem? Cheers Andrew Prolly the only weight concern they have is their larger than normal hat size . The deep fat fried Mars Bars are so-o-o-o against all the tree-huggers and bulimics that I threw it in to ruffle some feathers . They eschew fat-fried ANYTHING . . and a Mars bar is the total insult . Funny, they don't know a good brown-food-group when they see one . When I eat a taco, burrito or fried food, I want the grease to drip offa my elbows . |
