| 654793 | 2008-04-01 00:45:00 | According to the front page of my Otago Daily Times, a company called Wind Prospect is investigating the potential for a $390 million wind farm near Wyndham - your home town. It will be called Slopedown, carry up to 50 turbines & could supply 74,000 homes. You will have a community Open Day at the Wyndham Memorial Hall on 11 April. It's a big story - map & facts & figures list & all. But unless it's also in the Southland Times, I wouldn't start worrying yet... (The ODT has a reputation for "interesting" lead stories on April 1st) |

Oh will we? naturally the Southland Rag didn't mention the Open day, but yes, it is being proposed, been mentioned before. Its 15km from me, so no, I won't. Friend with sheep farm is rather close. No doubt they'll all whinge about it anyway. |

| 654797 | 2008-04-01 02:35:00 | Oooops. I finally opened my ODT. And there on page 3 is the obvious April Fool story (sheep being mustered by laser beam on land the city council has just bought on Otago Peninsula). So seemingly the wind farm isn't a hoax after all. I was led astray by assuming the front page had the fake story, as it usually does. (And I've been too busy to read further until now) |
