796920 2009-07-31 11:08:00 Any suggestions or recommendations please on programmes to synchronise basic files between my desktop and my laptop? Both are using XP.

Reasonable simplicity required and price does matter (free is good!)

Many thanks.

796921 2009-07-31 11:17:00 Good Sync (http://www.goodsync.com/) may do the job. ronyville (10611)
796922 2009-07-31 11:18:00 You can either use SyncBack SE to sync them over the network, but this means that both computers will have to be on.

Or, you can use a web service such as SyncPlicity, Dropbox or SugarSync

It'll mean that you can only sync where there is internet access and you'll need broadband.

796923 2009-07-31 11:20:00 Allways Sync (http://www.allwaysync.com/) seems like a good utility. ronyville (10611)

Briefcase comes free with XP and does not need internet access.

796926 2009-08-03 06:10:00 I use SYNC BACK to do exactly what you wish to do.
I SYNC 3 folders between the PC and the Laptop
DATA and sub folders, email complete, and a folder containing often used stand alone utilities and non installed/standalone programs.
Works very well.
