| 796397 | 2009-07-30 01:49:00 | Hi! I have a serial reciept printer for my business which is normally connected to my till. I need to connect it to my till to upload a small bitmap logo which will print of receipts. I have the full software and logo upload drivers to do this, but that ain't the problem! The plugs on the Epson TM-T88IV are paralell and serial, connected by an ethernet cable. This works fine on the till. All drivers and software are installed, but the laptop still can't talk to the printer. TO MAKE THIS QUESTION A WHOLE LOT SIMPLER.... How do I install a serial printer? My laptop has a serial port (usb is out of the question) but is this a COM, LPT etc? The software asks me on installation. Device manager shows COM1 (Communications Port) and LPT1 (ECP Printer Port) Which one is serial? I'm stuck! SOS! |

I have been on the manufacturers site (Epson and HP) and I seem to be doing everything right, it just won't work! Funny thing is, I remember using serial all the time before USB came along...I can't remember how to work one! Do I install with the plug in or out? |
