What do the last 2 mean ?

I like some Asians.

But I think we are letting FAR too many into New Zealand.

We should not be doing this as it is changing the character of our country.

Also many of them do not want to learn English and our rules and customs.
After being here for many years ! ! That is rude !

Many of them come here just to get citizenship so they can go to Australia or Canada !

655457 2008-04-03 07:47:00 Humans are greedy like it or not the most generous person in this world is probably Warran Buffett as he donated 80 percent of his assets to charity for african kids. JUST INSANE (6682)
655458 2008-04-03 08:50:00 Not only that, many Asians still decide to not integrate into NZ society and remain reclusive from other races and congregate with their own people and make little or no effort to befriend someone of another race.I find that extremely rude and arrogant. In general, all this applies to the young Asians - the generation which predominantly matters for the future. Older Asians, the fathers and mothers etc find it much harder to integrate due to language barriers and different social structures.
Good on you for making the effort to integrate as that is my beef about so many now. I realise it is much harder for some of the grand parents to do.

655459 2008-04-03 09:04:00 Humans are greedy. Policies can cut both ways. That's life. Some NZders incl some of my relatives and friends asian or non-asian, get the school here heavily subsidised and then go abroad after graduation.

Some who have student allowance, may go and buy a computer or even use the money and buy shares or go skiing and booze.

In terms of immigration, they could cut it right back, even harder than other countries then if NZ loses out is that worth it ...

655460 2008-04-03 09:29:00 I agree.Not dependant on race but dependant on individual

Exactly.

The only problem I had with a person of Chinese extraction was when I was in Sydney, Australia.

There was a duty free store and as my wife and I were travelling to NZ for a visit we thought we would go in but we were stopped outside the store and were not allowed to go in.

It made me wonder. We had the money but I might add that the signs outside were ideoghraphs.

but you know some people just can't integrated.

You should perhaps try going to places like hong kong or japan and integrate with them and try learning cantonese.lol.?Sometimes its not because they don't want to its just people are different

First of all I would ask you why you are here?

Secondly why would I want to learn Cantonese if I have no intention of having work or getting work in an Asian country? Should I learn Mandarin for example? Or Japanese as well?

If an immigrant of any country comes to New Zealand then I would expect they learn English and or Maorii both of which are official languages in New Zealand and both used in Parliament for that matter.

I am a Kiwi from 5 generations back.

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

Ahhahaha. No, seriously, that is so stupid its beyond words. So immigrants changing the culture? What culture?

And you know there would be a HUGE migration loss if we didn't let Asians (I'm Indian) in. No one else really wants to come here.

With people like you, not hard to see why. I agree though, they should learn AND speak English. Just joining cliques and talking in their own language is definitely not on.

I guess everyone have their choice.I'm not planning to go to japan but I'm learning japanese.

It's good to learn another language but I agree with you there.People who immigrate to NZ should learn a little bit of english.

My grandparents can't speak english but they immigrated here to retire who was looked after by my auntie.

but then people might want escape from their country

I know for sure that the china's government is pretty corrupted and its very dangerous living in China.

Our family immigrated here primary because its more peaceful here and we were quite fearful of the china taking over hong kong in 1997

My father told me that my grandad's father were brutally tortured during the Mao period.I think if you read about the history you would be aware that mao's intention was controlling the chinese and kill all the educational people so that he can easily manupilate them.

Even though their parents english isn't very well they bring children over who speak perfect english so I guess you can say that language barrier isn't one of the main concern as I think most asian children do study to the top level passing university.

Chinese have a thing called "Filial piety" and will look after their parents after they retire.

I think language shouldn't be the only thing they should consider but family background is also important.

My parents and my sister speak perfect english however they rather enjoy the lifestyle and living standards over in hk

Education is better here...People are more tolerant and friendly.
