656560 2008-04-12 05:11:00 I went to 7 or 8 bars on Thursday night, Not a single one was in anyway upset about my casual attire.

Though one we briefly visited was a bit too "alternative" for my comfort.....:horrified

656564 2008-04-13 03:57:00 I can't possibly get there by then.

Can you move the date up a month or so?

Can I wear just a tie and coat?

I need to know if in NZ when you say "informal" does that mean IN formal clothes.

My tux is in the cleaners.

The airlines are all canceling their flights...something about electrical-short-in-the-hydraulic-systems.

Doesn't sound THAT bad to me!

I'll bring the beer and Scotch. Wait for me. :thanks

<edit> forgot to add: I will also wear pants and such as necessary...sorry for any misunderstanding. "Coat and tie" is US-speak for casual, but not ostentatious.

656565 2008-04-13 04:23:00 Folks, I won't be there, I have been living on and off in Wellington over the last few weeks, and the wife (as lovely as she is ) would go crook at me disappearing back down to Wellington on my day off.

besides, I need the rest, My pointing finger is getting a bit fatigued...

656566 2008-04-15 10:01:00 Since nobody has responded to my offer re. Trax, do I take it that I shouldn't bother?
Otherwise the only details so far are Sunday, the time and a foodcourt....!!!!!

656567 2008-04-15 10:16:00 I thought someone posted earlier that Trax was closed on Sundays - if it's not, then it could be a rather good venue based on what others have posted, although I have never been there. The only issue I can think of is ID though (does Trax need ID to get in?) - while most of us won't have a problem, are there any Wellington members under 18 who want to come?

I'm also not after a bar-type atmosphere, it's generally not an ambience I like.

No, I think that a local food court would be suitable. What ones there are in Welly City? I do not know.

Someone give me a hand :o

656569 2008-04-15 11:16:00 Well in Wellington if you want a foodcourt in the evening it must be Courtenay Central. Next door to the Telstra Clear building/store. You can buy non alcoholic drinks or alcoholic there ..

There is another one maybe its opened, at James Smiths Corner but that is not as central or as roomy.

All the other foodcourts are closed then.

I am not sure about Trax. I mean, that is not central, its near the stadium and the surroundings - Parliament and Lambton Quay is quiet at night. The one that will be in the station, I assume the Trax is the bar in the railway station, are the people going into the city for night parties. Its a good 15min walk to the city central from the station..... If you want a good place to eat and stuff and chat, maybe something like One Red Dog and the such like ....
