My original thought of creating this thread is to cater personthingy's annual trip to Auckland, but I guess there is no harm in having two winter edition meetups! What do you think, Laura? Aw shucks, guys. You've got me blushing... But yes, I'd indeed be a starter. And because I haven't made any definite Auckland plans yet, I can fit in with whatever others prefer. I expect to be there around 5th May for at least 2 weeks - possibly longer. (Open-ended travel is one of the few advantages of turning into a retired Old - provided you have relatives with spare beds) I'll be staying with my sister in Avondale. She works, so no car available, but I've learned the buses & train to the central city. And I have lived in Auckland - back when I was young & Rangitoto was a small rock. I like foodhalls with exotic choices. I've been known to drink in bars (I was a journalist. after all...) but nowadays I want them to have interesting food as well. Back to you... |

So what happened to the good old-fashioned spy story tradition? Surely you could use your imagination? Like - I'll be holding a copy of the Herald open at page 14... or I'll be wearing a trilby hat & purple tie or I'll have a grey tweed jacket & mustard-coloured trousers. That's so much less boring than labels. (Having said that, I still refuse to come with a rose between my teeth) |
