656540 2008-04-08 10:09:00 Hi

Count me in. Suggest Trax on Wellington Station as it's both a bar and a cafe. Drink if you want but if you don't then there's lots of other choices.

Have good food too. Nice and quiet atmosphere.

As someone else suggested it is very close to all major public transport systems. Public car park available at Wellington Station too. Ideal for everybody.

Whatever venue is chosen, make sure there is nothing on in Wellington as the cafes and bars get rather full quickly.

The Armageddon Scf Fi Convention. So just imagine all those trekkies in trekkie uniforms walking into bars and restaurants.

Now, I'd do a poll based on the four or so ideas mentioned, but... seeing so many polls...

I suppose a bar/cafe would not be so bad. As long as they don't tell I'm to old to enter. :xmouth:

656545 2008-04-08 22:20:00 The Te Papa cafe is nice, but also as mentioned, not cheap. Also, is it open in the evening when you guys are planning to meet? Greg (193)

656547 2008-04-09 01:06:00 The parade in oriental bay is nice, and it doesn't really get packed. How many people are going to come? Fidels is usually busy no matter what, and seating quite a few could be a nightmare. And trax.... it's a bit rough isn't it?

The Parade is far from things though... if that's an issue.

656548 2008-04-09 01:42:00 Well if we can't decide on a location, we might not have a meet up. bob_doe_nz (92)

Trax is being done up at the moment, once it's done, it'll look great. Weekday afternoons/evenings, there is generally a large mix of people. A few workers who generally hang around outside in the garden bar, young and old business people, students, grannies with their grand kids... Everyone co-exists nicely, and my partner loves the hot chocolate they do. (I prefer the Guinness or Old Dark).

Although, Make sure the Hurricanes aren't playing.
