655576 2008-04-07 22:28:00 You sound like the bully here. You asked who smelled and then punched some guy? What a ****ed up thing to do.

Nah .. he said that. I spent 5yrs being hassled. I had been spat at my face, been called nicknames, been asked to do their school work in class while teachers just looked on .... Other students incl western students even approached the school principle. I've been called a f'n asian or a f'n immigrant even thou I was born here countless times.

One time the only way he did his part cos I wouldn't do the work and if it was the case that my whole group get detention then I will just do that.

655577 2008-04-07 22:41:00 (and for the post about doing some unholy amount of homework, NZ schooling doesn't even provide that much. all you're doing is alienating yourself from the larger student body and missing out on what is likely to be one of the best experiences of your life. as a successful uni student myself, i'd be lucky to spend more time studying than i do in lectures, and i'm doing '3 assignments and several impending tests at any given moment' engineering ***! uni is mostly designed to fit all withing an 8 hour day as is all of NZ's education system. you can do the extra if you want, but developing social skills and learning how to interact with your peers is equally important if you want to do well in the workforce)

When I was at uni, we had fortnightly assignments. I took about 3 or 4 papers each semester and for each paper there was also like 2 larger assignments in that semester. On top of that, I reviewed my lecture materials on the day, we were also provided a bounded book of articles to read, each lecture there might of been 5 articles to read, some spanning 10 pages each. There is also a chapter or two to read from the assigned textbook.

655578 2008-04-07 22:50:00 One time we were at a science class, we were growing a plant, he took out his knife and just cut off the stem. Teachers didn't do anything when I reported it. I just went back to ground zero and replant it and do everything again ..

Hey Roddy Boy you wouldn't mind any of that if a bully did that to you ... maybe you can be like me and put up for 5yrs.

At my same class, I had a friend who was a Samoan and had short curly hair, a student in a higher class, pulled him into the common room, cut off his hair and put it in the microwave....

655579 2008-04-07 23:19:00 That is a tricky one, hard for the civilised party to become uncivilised just to accommodate the locals.
I say that with a bit of thought,in so much if we look at say Aborigines,or red Indians, there is always some resistance to going back wards.

Unless you're a member of the Green Party.....

Dude, sounds like you had some traumatic childhood, very violent. Did you by any chance go to a primary school in west Auckland ~10 years ago? I remember this chinese guy who was basically the butt of most peoples jokes. Was treated really unfairly, one day he just snapped. He ran around the school chasing down everyone in sight with his pair of scissors, I don't remember the specifics but I remember he cut bits of peoples hair. He was caught by the teachers and banned from school. What a nut. But I know what you mean, you can keep putting up with others behaviour, but it eventually gets to a stage where you snap (or in your case "snip") and let it all out. If you are still snapping like this, I advise you get some help :S

even thou I was born here countless times.

655582 2008-04-08 06:05:00 Nah .. not been in Auckland before apart from a long w'end :D

Now .. I don't take crap. ;) I think after my aero training I may get back into the akikdo. I've known work managers who teaches various forms of martial arts. A good friend from Singapore, knows one type, his brother knows 3x I think, they got their black belt when they were pre-teens. Not sure how Singapore was 20yrs ago .. Met this other Singapore fella and he used to be in a gang or something. Not violent at the time, but he could drink like a fish.

655583 2008-04-08 06:11:00 ^ Lol good, then it wasn't you :P

to true, I have never met an Asian that wasn't hard working. Always work like they owned the company. As for Indians I have had nothing but bad experiences with them, probably because they didn't own the company

Isn't that whole statement contradicting itself (and when I see your post as quoted below, I know that you know well what I mean). Your intentions for posting as you did are unclear, thats all.

are indians not asians of some sort. I was just stating the fact the 3 indians I have worked with at different jobs, also happen to be the laziest SOB's I have ever met. You seem to be a bit sensitive tonight.
Your mentality in your posts sure shows your age and also shows that a lot of immigrants are bullies themselves.

It's hard to reason with you. Sad that all 3 Indians you have encountered you have had bad experiences with, but that is hardly anything to judge by. Hope you understand where I'm coming from and not start with the personal attacks, simply trying to scope out your point of view.

EDIT : Just read the Ferrari thread, atleast I understand what you meant about the 'sensitive' issue :P

655584 2008-04-08 06:13:00 I tell ya man .. there were students of all ethnicities who were scared of the guy. They would congregate at the library, they would not use the common room, they would hang around and eat their lunch under some shelter when it rains or at that wooden bench. Nomad (952)

heck today i had solid lectures/labs from 11 till 5 without break. engineers get the joy of 4 papers plus optional extras a semester every semester for four years, and all the course tend to put tests and deadlines in the same weeks

just handed in major design project on friday, now i've got test on thursday, design project, 2 assignments, test in a fortnight after the break and it goes downhill from there

still, i don't see how one could justify spending more than a 40 hour week at high school. uni i could believe, but it isn't that much more.
