655621 2008-04-02 22:25:00 I am trying to locate a reputable source for this information:
en.wikipedia.org

The closest I can find is this: www.transpower.co.nz which at the moment is a broken link.

Any ideas?

655622 2008-04-02 23:10:00 The link opens in my Firefox.

Can't vouch for the info in it, but it's working.

655624 2008-04-03 03:54:00 The Transpower link "works" in the sense that a webpage shows, but it isn't the right one. It should be an interactive presentation done in Flash. somebody (208)

Bout as good as it gets unfortunately, hasn't existed since 2005 and the archived versions don't look very responsive/promising.

I tried the archive, but they haven't cached the SWF file... oh well...

Any other ideas? I don't particularly "trust" Wikipedia, as I'm trying to find out more about the initial development of our national grid infrastructure - something I am too young to know about first hand.

It is like any web site or newspaper or this forum or global warming or AMD vs Intel or Ford vs Holden or any other debate.

It really boils down to whom or what you believe.

People who should know give the opinion and people who should know disagree among each other. So how can I make an informed decision and authoritive?

I do KNOW that all people in the world if cut the blood will be red regardless of skin pigmentation or origin. The same holds true for those that are called blue blood which is a term used for nobility. But I am willing to bet you that if any of the ruling classes all over the world were wounded the blood would be red.

Are you trying to research FACTS as opposed to OPINION?

Enquring minds are important but people need to sort the wheat from the chaff as it were in MY OPINION.

Wikipedia is a source as a starting point and so is google for example.

Have you tried the local Library?

655629 2008-04-03 17:35:00 I'm trying to find the facts... somebody (208)
655630 2008-04-04 05:38:00 Ok, so you want the facts and only the facts.
2 people before have suggested you go to the library, so why dont you do that .
If you know exactly what you want to research a librarian will be able to steer you in the right direction, but you will then have to do the research yourself.
If you go back to the Wikipedia page you will also find reference links there that
may give you a start.
By the way the Wikipedia page looked OK to me but it only covered the ground lightly.
