658113 2008-04-12 05:15:00 In a presentation at a Gartner-sponsored conference in Las Vegas, analysts Michael Silver and Neil MacDonald said Microsoft has not responded to the market, is overburdened by nearly two decades of legacy code and decisions and faces serious competition on a whole host of fronts that will make Windows moot unless the Redmond company acts.

Maybe they should get a chunk of Linux code and rebuild Windows from the ground up then they could just give it away.:D <ducks as Ballmer throws another chair>

658116 2008-04-12 09:47:00 It won't collapse as such but don't expect Windows 7 to be anything great when they manage to get it out the door in 2011 -12 or there abouts. vitalstatistix (9182)

658119 2008-04-15 00:21:00 It's good to see apple competing via introducing superior products, amongst other things (asthetics, brand recognition). Instead of the MS, "all of your base is belong to us" business model.

MS is losing face, and rightfully so. Instead of ripping us off, and trying to monopolise, they should be thinking of creating better and better products, and customer satisfaction. I'm just not convinced that they are. (or that they will)
