657926 2008-04-11 09:03:00 I tried Ubuntu on a USB flash drive (8.04). It worked quite well, but couldn't get my wireless network going.
I googled it, and got onto this site;

www.i-hacked.com

from the EeePC user forum.
So I installed "BackTrack 3", on another flash drive I had. It worked very well, in most respects, particularly the wireless network. It has all sorts of hacking type software (I'm not a hacker - wouldn't know where to start) and it's based on Slackware. A first for me and I quite like what I see; but, it will remain as bootable off the usb drive, as I feel that the EeePC, for me, when I travel, is probably better just the way I bought it, for now anyway.

657931 2008-04-15 07:51:00 I'm pretty keen on the HP 2133 with 120GB HDD (h10010.www1.hp.com), it's not badly priced either at $549 (USD). sal (67)

nice... price seems pretty good for that, hope they do bring the linux versions into nz but don't think they will. i'd rather not pay extra for the os since i know on a system with relatively low spec, i'll be installing my winxp over that anyways.
