656882 2008-04-08 00:57:00 It's taking an age to load and just as long to change pages or threads.

All other Sites I visit are fine.

656883 2008-04-08 01:00:00 Yup, its lagging again. And takes 4-5 mins + to move sometimes

Took about 18 secs to save this

656885 2008-04-08 01:04:00 Same here - PressF1 has slowed to an utter crawl, the rest of the web is fine. DOS maybe? Over-zealous search spider? Someone torrenting on the FairfaxBM net connection? Erayd (23)
656886 2008-04-08 01:04:00 Quite pathetic really. Press F1 and PCworld NZ's sites are the most prone to inconsistent performance of any sites I ever visit. Greg (193)

656889 2008-04-08 01:28:00 Yep, slow as a wet week. Reboot the server or something Jan. Richard (739)
656890 2008-04-08 01:36:00 Hey guys,

our sister-site, computerworld . co . nz has attracted massive attention from overseas . So much so, that our web server is having trouble handling the number of requests .

It might be like this for a few hours, until the story gets mirrored and the stress-load relieved .

thread stickied for now .

FYI: the story can be found Here ( . co . nz/news . nsf/tech/2F5C3C5D68A380EDCC257423006E71CD" target="_blank">computerworld . co . nz)

656891 2008-04-08 02:17:00 Haha, that explains it. I read the story on slashdot earlier, but didn't pay attention to where the link went. Congratulations on semi-surviving, many a webserver has been knocked out completely by such a link.

Edit: The slashdot article can be found here (hardware.slashdot.org).
