656814 2008-04-07 07:28:00 The Westpac Tamahere Firefighters Families Fund has been set up to assist the families of the eight firemen who were caught in the explosion.

The account number is 03 031808793770, Hamilton branch.
The account number is not required for those who donate at a Westpac branch.

let show some love to the boys how save lives every day.....

as per the news item, reported ask about how the firefighter pulled three people from the burning building and all he had to say was, "I was just doing my job"

and then we have Derek Lovell, 25 years of saving lives only to be killed on the job.

I challenge every one who reads this to chip in a few dollars ($2)

and if you don't like this thread feel free to PM me, but please respect the cause and keep the thread clean.

656815 2008-04-07 09:36:00 Can you provide a link with some proof of that account number? I'm more than happy to donate, but I'd also like to make damn sure I'm not being scammed, as such things have happened before - thankfully not to me. Erayd (23)

656818 2008-04-07 10:20:00 Lovely, thanks for that. I agree it's a shame, but I fully admit to being rather cynical, and I have seen things like this happen in the past (tsunami funds for example). No offense to robsonde, I wasn't suggesting he was scamming anyone, but as I didn't know where he got his info I deemed it necessary to ask. Erayd (23)

656820 2008-04-07 11:16:00 fully agree

your right!
I should have posted the links.

BTW you can just walk in to any westpac bank and tell them you have $$ for the firefighters fund and they will do the rest.

656822 2008-04-09 21:00:00 I liked reading how the town cooked them a feed and all that while they battled the fire. Nice to hear some good people still left in newspaper land rob_on_guitar (4196)

in a big job like this you always need to keep the firefights feed and watered.
