797785 2009-08-03 22:40:00 I recently set up a web page at ihug using using Filezilla. Set up went ok and I managed to transfer my first page. Yesterday and today I tried to access the page with Filezilla to add more information and I get this:

Status: Resolving address of homepages.ihug.co.nz
Status: Connecting to 203.109.135.90:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...

What could be the problem - I have not altered anything in the Filezilla configuration.
Many thanks.

797787 2009-08-04 05:36:00 Blam, looked at that help page and done the firewall exception but when I run the Filezilla
Configuration test I get this:

Response: 200 Using port 1311, data token 1828079175
PORT 118,92,230,180,5,31
Response: 502 Port mismatch. Tainted by router or firewall.
PORT command tainted by router or firewall.
Connection closed

What does that mean?
What I don't get is that I had no problem connecting when setting up the web page.
Many thanks.

797788 2009-08-04 05:42:00 Have you forwarded the correct ports on your router? Blam (54)
797789 2009-08-04 06:03:00 Blam, I have a USRobotics 9108 adsl router and under Security Tab there is Port Triggering and boxes for: Trigger Port Start, Trigger Port End. Open Port Start, Open Port End. I presume this is what you are talking about. In Filezilla configuration there is Lowest Available Port = 6000, Highest Avaialble Port = 7000. What do I do with these?
Many thanks.

797790 2009-08-04 06:20:00 You usually need to open port 21 in the router for FTP transfers.

Edited: have a read of the manual (www.usr.com) on how to open Port 21

797791 2009-08-04 09:03:00 WT is dead right. If filezilla is left with default settings then 21 is the port to forward

Just follow the manual, then test if the port is open with this:

797792 2009-08-04 11:08:00 The router is not exactly the same as the manual but I can get to "Add Virtual Server" and it asks:
"Select the service name and enter the server IP address and press Apply to forward IP packets for this service to the specified server"

Where do I find the server IP address?

Many thanks.
kandjc (15143)
797793 2009-08-04 11:35:00 Server IP means the IP of the computer you jneed to forward the port to.

If you do not have a static IP set up or Static DHCP set up then the internal IP may change everytime you boot your computer.

TO find out the IP of the computer go run>ipconfig

797794 2009-08-05 00:41:00 Blam, in router setup/Add Virtual Server when I add FTP server I get the following warning:
"Since port 21 is used, the router FTP server port will be moved to 2121"

Then when I run CanYouSeeMe.org I get this message:
Error: I could not see your service on "my ip number" on port (2121)
Reason: Connection timed out.

Many thanks.
