797385 2009-08-02 06:13:00 Hi Guys!!

Am sorry but its us again, and yes on the 24th of August we will be going to Auckland to buy a new computer.
This is what we currently have:
CPU Type: Intel Pentium 4, 2400 MHz (18 x 133)
Motherboard Name: MSI MS-6533EG
Graphics Card: RADEON 7500 SERIES (AGP)
Memory: DDR400 (PC3200) 1 stick of 1 Gig and 1 stich of 512mb
Hard Drives: ST3160021A (Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160021) Cappacity: 160 GB and ST3802110A (Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 802110) Cappacity: 80 GB
Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-2014S1

We have been looking at these 2 links:
www.xpcomputers.co.nz
or
www.xpcomputers.co.nz

We are really wanting the pentium over the amd, but wanted your guys advice! The guy who sells these said we could ad a better graphics card later (which we are planning) If we wanted to customize the pc more then he said he needed to test our hard drive and dvd writer if it is compatible...this true? we have been adding stuff to this pc for years without problems...

Let me know what you think!

797386 2009-08-02 06:18:00 Don't go with a Sempron!

Personally I'd go with something like this (www.ifocus.co.nz), its a bit more expensive, but at least you're getting decent quality components.

797387 2009-08-02 06:25:00 Forget it.
Go to Computer Lounge or PLaytech.
I'd choose the former.

797388 2009-08-02 06:37:00 If you got the sempron you proably wont notice much improvement. If you go the intel add another gig of ram (thats assumin youl go vista)

stormdragon is right though, spend an extra 100-200 and youl jump up a quality notch which will show over time

+1 to that

And the second system absoltuely pwns the first.

The E5200 is very overclockable. You can get it to 3ghz no sweat!

Oh, and BTW the system that Stormdragon recommends is actually just on par with the second computer in your post, because XP Computers' prices are all GST exclusive:groan:

It also uses decent parts that will last you much longer!

797390 2009-08-02 07:08:00 We really would like to go with the Intel one...but...if we compare that one with the one from Ifocus...which one is then better??

Its just that the one from Ifocus has a monitor which we do not need, it has speakers, an optical drive, which we all have...soooooooooo

Its so confusing, we only have a budget around $500...

:( dunno now...lol

797391 2009-08-02 07:14:00 It doesn't have a monitor or speakers. If it did, it would be an awesome bargain:p

Just comes PC only.

The ifocus PC is around 10$ more than the second on in your post, but it actually tells you what brands it uses for the parts.

XP Computers are probably going to throw in the cheapest generic parts they can find.

$10 for much more reliable parts isn't much.

797392 2009-08-02 07:15:00 So Blam your saying that we should go with the Ifocus one?? Good parts etc mark1978 (13845)
797393 2009-08-02 07:23:00 Yes.

Its $540. But sell the DVD drive on TM for $20.

Thats about $520.
