657408 2008-04-09 23:31:00 Ok, well seeing nobody seems to have one that works and can suggest anything I may be doing wrong, so I’m off to request a replacement or my money back.

No I didn't because I figured it may have information like Menu's etc which would get obliterated.

Also, it reports the File System as being FAT32 so I figured it must be formatted.

I stand to be corrected on that though.

657410 2008-04-09 23:44:00 The menus should be part of the system / hardware, theyre not software based.

So formatting it shouldnt affect the menus.

And if it couldnt be formatted, then it shouldnt give u the option to format it.

Well if you formatted an Ipod, and killed everything, (inc menus), you would be pretty pissed wouldnt you. Apple would be broke

657411 2008-04-10 03:29:00 I guess I should have known better but I bought one of these MP3/MP4 Players from this character on Trade Me. www.trademe.co.nz

I won’t bore you with the morbid details of actually getting the thing, but having got it I’m darned if I can get it to go. The manual that came with it is written in gibberish and the drawings refer to buttons it doesn’t have! :angry

Anyway, when I plug the Player into the computer the computer recognises it as a removable drive and everything is the same as for my flash drive a Camera. Only problem is I can’t copy anything onto the player. Looking at the players Properties it says File System FAT 32 Used Space 0 Free Space 0

Beats me, has anyone out there had any luck with these things?

I note it has no brand name so I can’t check with the manufacturer. :angry

They're fakes.

The real McCoy is here

Yes, but it isn't an ipod, so the software could potentially be also wiped .
I think apple should be stopping these cheap chinese knock offs, or they should at the very least be banned from being imported into NZ, as the last thing we need is this sort of rubbish filling our landfills, and they are essentially a con . NZ customs does block other knock offs, such as fake nike gear, so I wonder how these fake ipods can get through .

I also purchased a cheap mp3 player a few years ago on trademe . The first one, the data kept getting corrupted when data was transferred . The second one works ok, but I later purchased a real ipod, and it is in a totally different league .

657413 2008-12-25 03:17:00 Do you think IPOD is the best MP4 player in the world? Beautiful looking, multi-function, best quality, best service and support and so on . Really, is there any disadvantage of IPod?

In my opinion, there are still disadvantages of IPod . When I want to upload music on IPod, it needs me to download an Itunes . It brings me troubles . Do you think so? And its screen is so small except IPOD TOUCH . When I watch movie, it makes me so terrible .

So I want to know the pros and cons of your MP4 player . Everyone can get guidance when you post your opinion .

657414 2008-12-25 08:20:00 I use a Sansa SanDisk 1G with a 2G SD-Micro expansion card . It's the size of a package of gum .

I don't need or even want the pix part (too small anyway) but I love the record-FM-on-the-fly part as I record lots of lectures that are simulcast on a low-yield FM freq . Recordings are easy to move to my MP3 file both ways, but I limit the bitrate to 128 for the player .

It holds a thousand MP3s too - easy! .

You have to leave the earphones IN if you are receiving FM as they are the antennas . It records in 2-hour segments if that's the way I set it up .

I'd take yours, plug it into the USB2 port and then right click on MY COMPUTER >>MANAGE>>DISC MANAGEMENT>> finding the disc listed as the FAT32 one, RIGHT CLICK and then EXPLORE and see what's on it .

If you see another partition on that drive, then that's the system info files and they are protected .

Just right click or use the TOOLS>> and FORMAT it again with the FAT32 option, click YES as much as is necessary and give it a try then . I too don't think the option would be there if it wasn't correct or usable .

Sometimes though, you need a converter tool to make the files enter the player in a format that it can use . I know this is so in my Sony Cliê, Palm 5 . 0 device, as it cannot handle generic MP3s, RAW and . jpeg or . tif unless they are converted first

But I really like my Sansa . Cheap too!
