657421 2008-04-09 22:28:00 As mentioned in another thread on this subject, good advice is to open an Elect account with Westpac and get one of their DebitPlus cards. The fees are less than the prezzy cards and have less conditions and restrictions. Greg (193)

You can link up your paypal account to the Prezzy card no problems.
That how I purchased items on Ebay.

Just remember that you get 3.5% added on for international transactions.

Yes, there is a surcharge on the credit card but its cheaper than a bank cheque (or even a telegraphic transfer or known as a wire transfer). A bank cheque would have similar charges for FX conversion, then you have the cheque fee and the postage (if the seller supports that). Overall, credit card is the cheaper method and quicker and safer.

FWIW Kiwibank offers a free credit card but I think you need to use it least 1x or 2x a year, if you do not they will bill you an annual fee.

657424 2008-04-10 00:20:00 Thanks. i had a look at the prezzy cards online i see the only got to like $500.

Im going to be needing to spend round $600 us dollars. Whats going to be the easyest way using paypal.

Can i get say a $500 prezzy card and a $250 and add them to my paypal and then pay for the product? Or am i better off just getting sumthing differant.

That kiwibank one is Free if you use your card every three months. 15.90% p.a. Interest free for 55 days. Inactivity fee $15 per quarter

657425 2008-04-10 00:27:00 Not sure about the prezzy card .. but the debit cards should work provided you have the funds of $600US.

Kiwibank free c/c works too ... if the limit is not enof you can desposit money into your credit card ....

Be aware that $600US is taxable when it comes via Auckland International Airport. Imports are taxed at 12.5% after currency conversion to the NZD. That may also incl the cost of the freight bill as well to the declared value. Some stuff not all .. may also have duty as well .... electronics do not have afaik.

Customs NZ do not tax you if GST is less than $50NZ .. It used to be $100NZ so I was burnt with that. What happen is that they send you the letter to pay and theyonly release the goods to you once its paid.

657426 2008-04-10 00:32:00 Kiwibank .. well you can use the c/c to say pay for groceries and petrol .. so once per 3 months is quite easy.

For the interest. There should be a period of time like a month to your next payment that is interest free period. ........ If you only pay the min amount then they charge you that interest.

NZPost also now do what is called a 'Loaded' card.

Same thing as a prezzy card, but with a bit more freedom.

One of the things you can do is add funds the card.
