657398 2008-04-09 21:32:00 I guess I should have known better but I bought one of these MP3/MP4 Players from this character on Trade Me. www.trademe.co.nz

I won’t bore you with the morbid details of actually getting the thing, but having got it I’m darned if I can get it to go. The manual that came with it is written in gibberish and the drawings refer to buttons it doesn’t have! :angry

Anyway, when I plug the Player into the computer the computer recognises it as a removable drive and everything is the same as for my flash drive a Camera. Only problem is I can’t copy anything onto the player. Looking at the players Properties it says File System FAT 32 Used Space 0 Free Space 0

Beats me, has anyone out there had any luck with these things?

I note it has no brand name so I can’t check with the manufacturer. :angry

657401 2008-04-09 21:48:00 Hmmm, awfully similar. There's a picture etc on the Trade Me link I provided.

I can see this getting real messy. :groan:

No, it says the file system is FAT32 so I guess it's formated?

I'm a bit reluctant as I don't know what else is on there that may be part of its operating system.

657403 2008-04-09 21:52:00 While TMs feedback system isn't perfect, reading through the negatives gives you a fair idea of whether or not the trader is dodgy.

Seems fairly obvious to me that he's dodgy.

657404 2008-04-09 21:52:00 Theres a few posts in here.

I think theyre called chipods (which are more fake than real) imitation Ipods.

Which dont actually do anything like a real Ipod.

Even tho, they say they play MP4's they dont

657405 2008-04-09 22:03:00 You should read feedback before purchasing in the future... :o

Obviously dodgy, I'm sorry to say. :groan:

Judging by his feedback, you'll need to contact trademe to get anything done about it, even then you'll be lucky.

Would be good to get him banned from TM.

657407 2008-04-09 23:13:00 Dodgy alright .

The thing is, I did look at His/Her feedback (I think it may be a Her) and figured 3 . 5% negative feedback was worth a punt .

I went this way because if you read the spiel, you will see that dantok claims to be a NZ Registered Company and promotes that fact as being one reason one should deal with them .

I figured that was a fair point, because in NZ we have the “Fair Trading Act” which covers goods of dubious quality .

I had also been looking at similar items on E-Bay and noted there were glowing reports on them as well as scathing reports, so I figured If I had a problem it was easier to deal with in NZ .

Therefore, I paid the few extra dollars in the hope that if things turned to custard, as they have, then I will have the Law on my side .

Ok, well seeing nobody seems to have one that works and can suggest anything I may be doing wrong, so I’m off to request a replacement or my money back .
