659722 2008-04-20 23:18:00 The basses, and sometimes the brass, are the dart throwers and pranksters of the orchestra typically. To see everyone else but them yelling is out of character.

It's the same with the bass section in most choirs and choruses. My chorus master says that it's because the sound takes that much longer to reach the bass section, which is why they're always at least a beat behind.
