659590 2008-04-16 12:58:00 I'm just a bit confused by what the new bill means for us normal folk.

Are ISP now policing what we download?
Does this apply to film/movies in Public Domain? (e.g. Archive.org)
Does it apply to Fan Films (e.g. Star Trek New Voyages)
What about Youtube? Watch a 5 min clip from a movie and the copyright police pay a visit?
Does this mean if I download a TV program from the Internet, after I watch it I have to delete it (Timeshifting?)
And finally, this Notice and Take-Down System, does it only apply to copyright stuff on New Zealand servers (e.g. not to the people who download them?)

I don't download movies myself (buy the DVD's whenever they come out), I'm more interested in the TV shows that never come here (*cough* Battlestar *cough*)

659594 2008-04-16 22:12:00 The Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act was passed last week, and does a number of things bringing us closer to the DMCA legislation in the US.

It has been criticised for allowing format shifting of music, but not video, even though the principle behind both is the same.
