| 799054 | 2009-08-07 08:24:00 | I am using: Windows XP Internet explorer 8 Microsoft Outlook Dial up xtra/telecom When I go onto the internet to collectb my email and/or look at a website and then disconnect I find that my internet connection restarts itself fairly soon afterwards. This is a nuisance because I am on dial up and when we talk on the phone we hear the dialing up and/or when I disconnect the internet connection I can come back later on (like now after tea) and find that the computer has reconnected I have looked everywhere that I can think about but I can't find the setting that does this. Any practical advice Jim |

| 799055 | 2009-08-07 08:45:00 | Go into OE if yo use it / tools / options / connections. Untick hang up after sending and receiving. Right mouse on the connection in network connections / properties / options tab, change the idle option to never. Open IE, go to tools / options / connections, change it to never dial a connection | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

| 799058 | 2009-08-11 21:29:00 | Thanks for the help. I am fairly certain that it was one of the "Downadup" family that was causing it to redial. I got a message that my antivirus had picked one up on one of my wands/sticks/etc and so I ran a complete and long virus check on all my drives and now I haven't had a restart Thanks :clap |
