799063 2009-08-07 06:08:00 Ive Unlocked the Sim card, but it keeps saying "Limited Service"???? HELP!!!!!!

Let me go over what Ive Done... On my Samsung W531, I went
Menu >Settings >Display> 0 > 123580 > Sim Lock > Off, The phone turns itself off and back on. I pop in a vodafone simcard, and restart. Then I go network selection > (the vodafone thingy, cant remember) and it switches. When done it says limited service, and the only thing i can do is call 111, and 911

HELp!!!!!!!!! Thanks in Advance

BTW, can the phone work on the new 2degrees? My chin is set to wag

:thanks

799064 2009-08-07 08:04:00 I have one of these and unlocked it last week and put my work Voda SIM in it OK. Did you lift the SIM holder out of the way before you tried to put it in or did you force it under the holder? If the later may not be in correctly other wise check that the SIM contacts are clean etc..

If you overcome the above problem it should work on 2D

799065 2009-08-07 13:04:00 I have one too, would be mighty happy if it worked on 2d hueybot3000 (3646)
799066 2009-08-07 21:23:00 Right Now, Im using an overseas sim card (even their roaming plans are cheaper than what telecom is offering nationally) And that keeps saying Limited Service. I took it to a vodafone shop though, and when they put in a sim card, it said the same thing.

The Sim Card is from Airtel india, but looks perfectly in place.

I did open up the holder, and place it in, not FORCE it in.

799067 2009-08-08 00:58:00 Problem Solved Everyone!

It was pretty simple really -_-, I was using a network that was on the wrong frequency. The 2Degrees one Works

Heres a step by step guide:

1) Go Menu > Settings > Display > 0 > 12358 0 > Sim Lock > Off
2) The Phone will restart
3) Go to Network Selection > Settings > Menu Type
4) Turn the Phone Off
5) Take the back and battery off
6) Place the 2degrees Sim Card in, common sense required
7) Turn the Phone On
8) Select "Unknown Card GSM"
9) You are now on 2Degrees
10) Call 200 and setup your stuff

:thanks

P.S. Is it legal for me to post this????

799068 2009-08-08 01:37:00 Probably more morally justified than locked phones. R2x1 (4628)

Probably a gray area as the W531 is not sold or supported by Telecom these days so I think it's fair game..

Glad you sorted your problem. My 2D SIM turned up so I put it in my W531 and bingo came up first time..

Fair Enough....

BTW: Is it possible to go on the internet using the Phone on the 2D network?

Not with the W531. Internet access only on CDMA mode.
