I have recently formated my second HDD and after doing so rebooted upon the computer starting up I recived the bood disk not found insert system disk and press enter. So I tryed startup repair to no avail, then opened up cmd and did bootrec /fixmbr "The operation completed successfully" then bootrec /fixboot "element not found" now I take this is not a good thing, any help? System vista. |

| 798467 | 2009-08-05 10:47:00 | You sure you formatted the right drive? It seems like the system was and is trying to boot from that hard drive. If you're sure all the system files etc are on the 1st HDD, go into the BIOS and check the boot priority. Let us know how you go. Good luck :) |

| 798468 | 2009-08-05 10:54:00 | yea the bios is set to cd > hdd > floppy cd drive is empty and hdd order is now main > secondary (one I formatted) Note the second hdd did have win7 on it. am re trying the bootrec again. |

| 798470 | 2009-08-05 11:02:00 | Try setting the partition as active using the DiskPart utility in command prompt from the Vista DVD CMD>Diskpart>list disk>select disk X>list partition>select partition X>set active Or something along those lines, don't quite remember. Think help should bring up all available commands Oh, and BTW once thats done try your bootrec commands again. Blam |

| 798472 | 2009-08-05 11:29:00 | So did you have a dual boot setup? If you boot from a windows CD, with only the 1st hdd in there, is the windows installation picked up? Or does it say that there is no OS currently installed. |
