659439 2008-04-18 22:49:00 I tried looking for it on google, but I can't remember the name of the material, kind of like a foam with a hard outter. Sorry if I remember Ill post.

Kinda like this:

659440 2008-04-19 00:54:00 What about using two layers of Butynol. Cicero (40)
659441 2008-04-19 01:34:00 Years ago we used to buy rolls of foam strip (self-adhesive one side) for coach building when fitting doors. I think they were a skellerup product.

You can get it from mitre 1 still, although I don't think it is made by skellerup anymmore

659442 2008-04-19 07:50:00 I haven't had a chance to check out any suggested suppliers yet, but just to add a bit more detail, I need to provide 3-4 cm of flexible lip to achieve a dust and debris seal, and foam based products are not really in the hunt.

This is not like sealing a close-fitting door against a jamb i.e normal draught-proofing. This is for gap closure between the bottom of the door and the concrete floor, and also for about a metre up each side.

Cheers

659443 2008-04-19 07:56:00 Any building supply depot, even if its your local hardware store. You will need a length of light steel/aluminium and bolts to bracket the (suitable) material to the bottom of the door. Metla (12)

Butynol will do job, flexible and thick enough if 2 pieces glued together .

I have used it on garage doors to keep birds out .

659447 2008-04-26 03:13:00 OK, I finally found what I needed .

Para Rubber (co-located with "The Plastic Box" on the North Shore) have a wide range of widths and thicknesses of interior and exterior rated neoprene rubber strips available . The required amount of exterior rated 3mm x 50mm strip cost just $50 .

None of the big hardware chains stocked this, or anything like it, they only sell foam draught-stopper stuff .

Thanks for the various suggestions .

Cheers
