Sure doesn't look like a loser to me . GOTTA CONSIDER THE PRICE . . . LIKE I SAID . . . IMO . . . HIS IS VASTLY OVERPRICED AND I DON'T KNOW IF A NON-PRO NEEDS ALL THE MACRO/MICRO FLASH STUFF AND SUCH . . . . BUT IT LOOKS KEWL TO WHIP OUT A SLR CLONE .

My father - who was a pro, liked these .
Although he has now bought a Canon - mainly so he can have various lenses and a flash gun, so he can do all sorts of pro type things with it .

I admire a pro photographer . . . have a couple as very close and dear friends . They shoot weddings, funerals and everything in-between .

They are all out of work with the advent of the low-to-middle-priced digitals right now .

If NZ is still caught up in SLRs and 35s, then maybe they should immigrate?

Yeah . . . the Fuji/Canon/Etc's are impressive . . . . . but for only $129 . 00USD?

By the way . . . I ONLY used the caps to add comments, not to yell . . . sorry if any offense was created .

Frankly, I will not likely use most of the provisions of the KODAK . . it is 'way too complicated for me . . . I just like to point and shoot . . . but I know that for the price it has features that my pro-friends say they would like to have in their multi-thousand-dollar cameras . I like to take videos . . and I post them (URL to be provided via PM) on YouTube .

And, yes . . . I like to twist a few tails now and then .

Thanks for the info . . . it is informative, but a little confusing . Tell your dad to not take me too seriously . . . . I am sure that he is a fine photographer and knows his trade . I am just yanking here . . . the verb, not the noun .

658326 2008-04-13 05:07:00 DANG . . . missed the edit timer . . . .

I think the best part (besides the price) is that I can use the internal system of the KODAK to edit, filter and correct for color/saturation/chroma . . etc, any pix in the camera's memory . I can assign an album, lock the image, edit and still keep the original and add or delete names/dates/time/comments in it too .

I can zoom, back out, change the focus from sharp to soft, vignette and blur scenes and still not lose the original .

There is a blur correction, high action option under normal, dim or no light conditions . . . like star shots at midnight in a black cave .

The pre-sets for exposures are 12 as pre-defined, and 12 as user-defined .

Internal memory is 1GIG and I have a few 2- and 5GIG SDs for when I get nuts and just snap and shoot like Cicero .

For fun I like to bungee my camera in it's tripod to the seat back in my Blazer or Amigo and take some videos of driving in town or on day trips .

If anyone wants, I can GMail/Picasa a few of the shots I like of the local "colour" . (We use that NZ version of color when we want to sound affected . . er . . . haughty! Ahem!) :D

Most people use a camera like they use MS Word - that is 5% of the product is all they ever need . In this day and age, you don't see people taking time over a photo . I know this as I do the same thing myself - blat off 50 shots and pick out the best one .

I am ashamed to admit this as I cut my teeth on a 6x6 Rolliecord and Weston meter, and a 35mm Pentax Spotmatic, rolling my own 35mm film from a bulk loader, developing my film and then printing in my darkroom .

As far as exposure goes, the f16 rule probably still applies and a couple of stops up or down takes care of soot and snow . Exposing for the subject eliminates the need for 64 "Exposure zones" Gets it right every time .

Focus . . . . know the depth of field settings for each aperture setting and you cant go wrong again . Flash for filling in detail on a sunny day is easy to set . Image stabiliser? Use a tripod .

Is it "Oh to have had a computer to manipulate the images" or remember the hours of satisfying work to produce a top quality print . the latter I feel .

Gosh, here I go again . But then which of the members know the basic rules . Digital cameras have probably increased the number of photos taken at least one thousandfold, but how many of that thousandfold are good photos??

Ken

(PS The Fujifilm does look a nice camera)
