660037 2008-04-18 21:23:00 I had a small problem with my 15 month old Philips LCD TV, 3 months out of warranty. I rang Philips and discussed the matter with them and they authorised repair Woolard TV, our local TV johnnies to do the job.

They were happy to pay for the job as I have been a long time Philips user, and like the tech said - "Shouldn't have a fault after only 15 months". Good to be able to give praise to a company instead of brickbats.

Thanks again Philips

Ken :thanks

They only did what they were required to do under the law. They had to repair it or replace it, even if it is out of the manufacturers warrenty, as it is covered by the CGA. Somthing like that should last at least 3-5 years if not more

You got it robbyp. I did 9 years with the CAB and was on working parties involved with the drafting of the CGA

My point was that sometimes, even though right is on your side, you have to fight a large battle to get what is your rights in law. Having been in a few battles with large companies and financial outfits over the years, I realise what @&#^% some retailers/wholesalers can be.

I was pointing out the pleasure it was to do business with Philips - no hassle at all.

Once again... "Good on you Philips"

I find most manufacturers are pretty good once you mention the CGA. My philips monitor had 3 year warrenty, and when it failed in the warrenty, they did replace it easily.

However some retailers such as Noel Lemmings and Harvery normans give you the run around, as they expect you to buy an extended warrenty,

660041 2008-04-19 02:29:00 I find shop staff like to drop the CGA into the conversation if I'm having any problems - as if they know any damn thing about the Act. Deane F (8204)
